At the forefront of packaging automation

Automation - Packaging Machinery 12 Oct, 2020 - Case study client

More than 1000 e-commerce and logistics leaders from all over the world gathered on three digital platforms to take part in CMC’s Packaging Automation Innovation Virtual Event – CID20

CMC Machinery’s Annual Innovation meeting traditionally takes place in its Italian headquarters and gathers an excellent turnout of international e-commerce and logistics professionals together, representing the largest global retailers and e-commerce platforms.

Covid-19 did not stop the innovation journey of CMC and its global distributor partners. This year the Italian company organised a unique live-stream event which took place on May 28. Keynotes, technical presentations and a live tour of the company with machine demonstrations shared the latest achievements of the company in the field of Automated Packaging for e-fulfilment.

The highly acclaimed CMC CartonWrap, the first 3D packaging machine that the company brought to market in 2013, was presented in its XL version. Alongside the existing CartonWrap machine in its DC facility, Catch.com.au already has the XL machine in its sight. This is undoubtedly the most flexible machine currently available in the market in terms of format sizes.

During the demo, attendees could also see how the integration of CMC’s proprietary technology Packvertizing can turn a shipping box into a premium packaging with full-colour printing. Each box can be personalised with marketing messages and high-impact pictures.

Leading online retailers packed for success with CMC

We heard from leading online retailers Catch, Aldi UK, Bol.com, Garmin Europe, JD Asia, Yes24.com, all hailing the praises of CMC CartonWrap integrated packaging solution, and its ability to improve efficiency and end-of-line capacity, as well as reducing environmental impact and carbon footprint, all whilst providing customers with sustainable packaging and the ideal unboxing experience.

The main event of the day came when CMC CEO Francesco Ponti officially unveiled the new CMC Genesys. The long wait was rewarded, the first 3D auto-packer that can be directly connected to a warehouse storage through the CMC Patented VaryTote® system. This innovative concept allows you to feed and pack multi-line orders without the requirement of being strapped or wrapped together. CMC Genesys is the ultimate digital solution for packaging automation. By using lasers to cut and crease the exact box template, CMC Genesys creates a unique box structure that holds items in position removing the need for void fill.

“The launch of CMC Genesys coincides with the 40th anniversary of our company,” said Francesco Ponti, “bringing to market a groundbreaking packaging system for us is the best gift we could give ourselves. We have missed the direct contact with our customers and hope that we will soon be able to welcome them again in CMC and demo the machines personally”.
